I have been bombarded recently with TV ads telling me about The 4400. I don’t know a thing about this show and won’t be watching, but I do know that there are 4400 people who can change the world. Couple this with the WVU Mountaineer Athletic Club’s 1100 initiative. Appartently, you can pay $1100 to help WVU recruit. Again, probably not on my radar screen (maybe we should do this to recruit scholars and postdocs instead). Anyway, my point is that both of these programs are branded with a number and a number makes it real simple to understand the metrics involved. So, I propose that we start a CreateWV 5500 (4400 + 1100) and have each of our 55 counties identify 100 creative people, places or programs in time for October’s conference. One of the most important points about this idea of a “creative class” is that it is their time to step into the light and this would be a great start.

I like this idea. When the revised createwv.com web site goes up in a few days, we’ll find a way to begin capturing people/projects for this list.
