1) The “charrette,” a session that invites the public to join working architects, designers, energy experts,city planners and officials, and building owners in thinking about the best, most practical plans for growing a community while preserving its character and best attributes. I believe this session will include watershed management experts. Glenville will be the model, but ideas and information from the session will be transferable to other towns with similar issues. The session will begin with a walking tour of historic Glenville from 1 p.m. through 1:50 p.m. Anyone who is interested can meet at the City Park, or next door at Audrey’s in case of bed weather. Discussion will be held in Room 228 at the Waco Center from 2 p.m. through 4 p.m. Sponsored by the US Green Building Council, West Virginia Chapter.
2) A session titled “Online Mastermind Marketing,” with best-selling author and Internet entrepreneur Emily Bennington, covering the fundamentals of selling products or services online. Bennington will share tips on how to create a premium brand position, develop lists of customers, and how to engage the audience through email marketing. It’s perfect for sales managers, business owners, marketing executives, and entrepreneurs who work solo and want to grow audience and impact through the Internet. 2:00 p.m. through 3:30 p.m., Room 244, Waco Center.
3) A session titled “Digital Communications Etiquette: A Primer,” with Jens Kiel, who will instruct attendees on how to transpose and apply analog skills to a digital world. Kiel will demonstrate how to commuicate a message clearly across different media and platforms, and how to circumvent pitfals of email communication and social media. 2:00 p.m. through 3:30 p.m., Room 235, Waco Center.
4) Glenville native Jeff James will lead a session titled, “Developing Your Unique Value Proposition,” which promises to lead attendees through strategic messaging exercises that will help define how to describe an idea simply and persuasively, how to differentiate it from competing ideas or the status quo, and how to build credibility and trust in an idea. 2:00 p.m. through 3:30 p.m., Room 239, Waco Center.
5) A session titled, “Adding Dimension: A Hands-On Approach to 3D Printing,” with architect Orin Kincade of WYK Associates, who will demonstrate the application of 3D printing in the arena of architectural planning. Information from this session is broadly transferable to any project that includes the conversation from 3D data to tangible objects. 2:00 p.m. through 3:30 p.m., Room 234, Waco Center
6) An art exhibit titled “Faith Expressed Through Art,” showcasing paintings and handcrafted artifacts used in Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant worship. 2:00 p.m. through 4:00 p.m., Waco Center, Reception Mezzanine
7) A talk by Chicago author and restaurateur Karyn Calabrese titled, “The Raw Truth: How a Plant-Based Diet Saved My Life and Launched Me in Business.” Calabrese was a young single mother of two when she decided to change her eating habits in hopes of fending off the early death suffered by her mother and grandmother. Her personal discoveries led her to open what has become the nation’s longest continuously operating vegan restaurant, and eventually to the establishment of a health-based family of businesses, including three restaurants, a spa, and a school. She has been a guest on Oprah, the Steve Harvey Show, and has hosted many celebrities, including Beyonce and Lady Gaga in her restaurants. 4:15 p.m. through 5 p.m., Waco Center, Room 239.

10) Free screenings of two feature films connected to West Virginia. Moving Mountains, written by journalist Penny Loeb, tells the true story of how local southern West Virginians banded together to get clean water to their communities. Seven Deadly Words, written and produced by Doc Benson of Calhoun County, presents the predicament of a church community faced with change. 8:15 p.m. through 10:00 p.m., Mollohan Center, Multipurpose Room, 315-A.
