Hi there. Welcome to Create West Virginia. Or, if you prefer – Create,WV. We like to think of this as a virtual “place” where citizens and friends of West Virginia can come and share their thoughts on how the Mountain State can develop into one of the most innovative, diverse, creative places on Earth.
Sound ambitious? Well, you have to expect creative types to think big, right?
Whether your creative palette is focused on technology, science, education, music, art, etc., you are welcome to join the conversation. Better yet, join the cause.

As a former teacher of 30+ years, I always instilled creativity: without it there would be no thinking skills or problem solving. As an artist too,I got to use this element in the classroom as well as with former neighborhood kids./ My dream would be to have a school of fine arts located in town near the Clay Center: think of the possiblities. On a smaller scale, there is so much talent that hasn’t been tapped right here in Charleston. It would be so wonderful to see exhibits/music/ etc. produced by neighborhoods: that’s a different slant on things. It would create a feeling of unity and pride. And it might be two-fold: besides inspiring each other, perhaps the neighborhoods would come together.
I would like to see more diversity in WV. I have resided in other states where people are respected regardless of skin color, accent, sexual orientation, etc. I see fear and hatred for others who aren’t exactly like everyone else. We need to wake up and accept all people. It just stands to reason that people who are different from us have different ideas. Discussing ideas with people helps energize and synergize and results in creativity. I haven’t seen your presentation, so this may be a stupid idea. If you are not already doing this, maybe you can work in a small diversity presentation or exercise for the group. If that isn’t feasible, contact some diversity groups and request educational brochures or a speaker.
I love this idea. Anyone know of an organization in WV who would have some quality training or materials on diversity?
