
Those who have worked in community and economic development in West Virginia or other regions have certainly experienced the meltdown of what seemed like a promising initiative. What goes wrong when an energetic group gets together with a great idea, but it fails to take hold and produce anything significant?
Author Patrick Lencioni addresses this problem at the root level in his book The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. In it, he outlines how projects get off on the wrong foot from the beginning by not focusing on the development of a healthy team environment. After all, it’s people who have to bring the idea to life and implement it.
